Kee’s scholarly activities are largely based on his interest in examining how technology features and platform policies affect the decision-making process and individual behaviors. Particularly, by investigating the availability of unique technology features and the way how information is presented, he has studied their (positive or sometimes undesirable) consequences in the context of modern online platforms such as online gambling, review systems, online contests, social media, and crowdfunding. His works are empirical, with a blend of theory and testing based on econometric modeling, economic experiments, and machine learning. Much of his work integrates behavioral economics perspectives into modeling key stakeholders’ decision processes (e.g., online users and/or firms) and examines their behavior via controlled experiments. He also utilizes econometrics and machine learning approaches to extract insights from large real-world datasets. His research appears in premier journals such as Management Science (MS), Journal of Management Information Systems (JMIS), and Production and Operations Management (POM). Moreover, he has ample experience in writing a successful grant proposal**,** including a competitive national grant (General Research Fund) from Hong Kong Research Grants Council.
