We are living in the era of Big Data, where organizations have unprecedented access to vast amounts of information. Those that can harness this data to uncover meaningful patterns and make data-driven decisions will gain a competitive edge in the marketplace. This course explores the interdisciplinary field of analytics, which combines data, information technology, and statistical methods to extract insights and make predictions. Specifically, data science and analytics emphasizes discovering unexpected patterns through methods such as data mining, essential for unlocking the potential of today's data-rich environment.
In this course, students will explore foundational techniques from data science and dive into modern analytics methods. Key topics include data mining and predictive modeling. The course combines brief lectures with hands-on exercises to provide practical experience in identifying data patterns and leveraging them for strategic decision-making. By the end of the course, students will understand how organizations can use data science and analytics to develop competitive strategies.
